Types of Crime Scene
The word crime gives sensation to the humans and a negative feeling evolve in an individual
but for a forensic expert it is a part of duty...so the first thing we must know is that,
Any place could become a crime scene . It is a location where an illegal act occurred and comprises the area from which most of the physical evidence is retrieved by trained law enforcement personal and by forensics scientists .
Crime scene is divided in to -
Primary crime scene
Secondary crime scene
The area , place or thing where the incident occurred or where the majority or a high
concentration of physical evidence will be found is a primary crime scene.
Secondary crime scene are places or things where physical evidence may be found. For Ex if a
body found buried in a place far from the area where actually death occurred ,then this place is a
secondary crime scene.
1) Indoor crime scene - As the name suggest it occurred in a closed area like in an apartment ,
buildings , factory, in a room etc . It is less susceptible to environmental loss and any deleterious
change. The possibility of contamination and loss of evidence increases due to presence of owner
and by there relatives or neighbor's. However no need of any light source in the night crime scene
usually.
2) Outdoor crime scene - when crime occurred outside on a road , in any field , park etc referred
as outside crime scene. It is most vulnerable to loss and contamination of physical evidence. It's
also depends upon the environment conditions such as heat cold snow etc. It should be
immediately secured to lessens any evidence loss. Night time Outdoor crime scene are very
problematic to crime investigation teams.
3) conveyances crime occurred in a vehicle like car etc . Vehicle burglary , car theft , grand theft
are Ex of conveyance crime. A conveyances such as a vehicle may be transported to the
laboratory after proper documentation has been completed.

A question has raised that who investigated the crime scene , actually it depends upon the
Type of crime scene and the resources of the law enforcement agencies. The examination of a
crime scene requires special skills , knowledge and aptitude. The examination and processing of a
crime scene is a long and tedious process that required a disciplined and systematic management
as well as depth knowledge of forensic science. A homicide crime scene requires different
treatment then a burglary crime scene. So the scientific person should have forensic skill and
experience. The crime scene team must be reached in time , secure and protect the crime scene .
Second thing's that photography and video capturing is must , then conduct a detail search for
evidences and make a crime scene sketch , then collect , preserve and packed the physical
evidences then do the documentation of crime scene and dispatch the exhibits. Chain of custody
is necessary. At last release the crime scene. Types of crime scene are easy to read but practically
the crime scene need experience , patience , scientific approach and physical fitness .
