Forensic experts are essential for the forensic investigation at the crime scene

 as they have the scientific knowledge and skill that are helpful in the investigation 

as well as expert evidence play very important part in the conviction of the accused

 before the court of law. The careful examination of an evidence is very essential and

 its the duty and responsibility of the forensic expert that all evidences examined , 

collected  and preserved safely in the forensic investigation of a crime scene. 

The role of various experts in a forensic investigation are discuss below ....

Forensic Expert -

After reaching the crime scene the forensic expert start his/her forensic investigation 

by establishing that the crime scene is genuine or fake.

Ascertain the criminal nature of the incidence. 

Decide the nature of crime scene , is it homicidal , suicidal or accidental in nature .

If any dead body found at crime scene the forensic expert decides whether the deceased was killed at

 crime scene or was transported from other place.

Searched the deceased for identification purposed through clothing (tailor mark) , from any tattoo mark

 or any other occupational marks.

Whole crime scene should be photograph in an effective manner.

The forensic expert with investigating officer established the entry and exit point of the crime scene. 

Ascertain the modus operandi of the perpetrator. 

Established the motive of the crime. 

In forensic investigation preliminary survey and examination  of biological evidence such as blood and physical evidence were searched and examined by the forensic expert. 

He must preserved the evidences like fingerprints , footprints , Tyre marks etc.

Is any kind of tempering has been done to the scene of crime or to any object present at the crime scene. 

Is any weapon used in the commission of crime. 

Established the distance and direction of the fire in gun shot cases.

With the help of investigating officer collect  , preserved and packed the physical evidences. 

Given instructions to the investigating officer for further proceedings like postmortem etc.

Reconstruction of the crime scene if needed to establish sequence of events. 

Ballistics expert  -

The ballistics expert decide the nature of crime as it is homicide , suicide or an accident. 
He thoroughly checked the firearm , identify it and saw that it is in working condition or not.
He checked the caliber of the firearm  and searched the cartridges , bullets , pellets , wad etc at the crime scene. 
Provided information to the investigator about the gunshot injuries , wound of entry and exit. 
He calculated the distance and the angle of fire.
Reconstruct the crime scene. 

Fingerprint expert  - 

Preliminary examine the crime scene and search the fingerprints on possible objects. 
First searched the entry and exit points of crime scene. Searched the doors , windows , almirahs for fingerprints possibility. 
In his forensic investigation he uses different techniques for development of latent fingerprints. 
After development get photographed the prints with proper scale and markings. 
Preserved the fingerprints for further comparison and analysis. 
Take the fingerprints of the deceased found at crime scene. 

Explosive expert  - 

The explosive expert find out the cause of explosion , whether it was caused intentionally or a result  of negligence. 
Is the explosion caused by non-explosive materials.(petrol , LPG etc).
Is IED (Improvised Explosive Device) involved in the  explosion. 
Handling and diffusion of the live bomb as per standard measure. 
Examine the residue materials of explosion for knowing the type and its nature.

Photography expert  - 

Photograph the whole crime scene with close , mid range and overall photography techniques which includes  - 

Photograph the points of entry and exit of the crime scene. 
Photograph the evidences such as fingerprints , footprints , Tyre marks , skid marks etc.
Photograph the dead body in exact location with surrounding articles. 
Photograph the wound and injuries on the deceased body.
Record evidences found on the body of deceased such as ligature marks , abrasion , burn injuries etc.
Photograph and videograph the postmortem of the dead body.
In riots , demonstrations etc record the activities of criminals.

Some other experts are also needed at the crime scene such as a computer expert , forensic psychologist etc. But the main purpose of all experts in a forensic investigation is to locate , examine and gather evidences. Properly documents the evidences. Preserved them correctly and after that testing them in a laboratory , summarize the findings and record conclusions in his report.
